The appointment, step-by-step

Check In & Prepare
You’ll complete a simple check-in with the SonoHealth team. We’ll verify key details to support the accuracy of your results and answer any quick questions before you begin.

Quick, Relaxed Scan
A board-certified sonographer will guide you through the scanning process step-by-step. The scan is comfortable and non-invasive, and your results are typically available in about 30 minutes.

Discuss Results & Next Steps
You’ll review your scan results with a SonoHealth consultant in plain English—what the findings mean, what to pay attention to, and practical next steps for your bone health journey.

How long should I plan for?

Most clients are in and out efficiently, and results are typically available within ~30 minutes. We recommend allowing a little extra time if it’s your first visit and you’d like a more detailed discussion.

Is it uncomfortable?

No. The scan is non-invasive and designed to be a relaxed experience. There are no injections and no ionizing radiation.

Do I need to prepare?

Preparation is simple. For best scan quality—especially for the lumbar spine—we recommend:

  • Avoid a large meal for 4–5 hours before your appointment (if needed, aim for no food and no carbonated drinks for 2–3 hours beforehand)
  • Water is fine
  • Wear comfortable clothing (helps easy access to the scan areas)
  • Arrive 10–15 minutes early for check-in and to use the restroom beforehand
  • Bring any prior DEXA reports or relevant bone-health records if you have them (optional)

No radiation. No injections. Just clear information and next steps.

A quick note on scope

Common questions

Do you compare this to my prior DEXA?
If you have prior results, we can help you understand how they relate and what trends may matter.

How often should I re-scan?
Many clients re-check based on risk and goals—often in the 6–12month range depending on the plan.

What if I’m nervous?
Totally normal. We keep the environment calm, explain each step, and move at a pace that feels comfortable.
